A bit of history

Located on a rocky spur that makes it visible from the bottom of the Romanche valley, the Saint-Christophe Church of Mizoën (38), built in 1889, underwent significant restoration work for several months.

Project

Elements of the facade that had been altered and eroded over time were repaired using PROMPT natural cement. Thus, the moldings, cornices, and imitation stones of this 19th-century building were restored. To enhance usability, an emergency exit was added to this neo-Romanesque style church.

This restoration project was funded by the Ecrins National Park in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region, the Department of Isère, and the Costume and Traditions association.

Restoration Steps

To restore this building, the restoration process involved several steps. Firstly, artificial stones were cast using PROMPT natural cement concrete, using a concrete retarder with citric acid.

In the next phase, the moldings were carefully aligned to the template, and the preparation of the support was carried out. This included tasks such as purging, cleaning, dust removal, and humidification of the area. Once the support was adequately prepared, dowels and wires were put in place.

Sustainable solution

The use of PROMPT natural cement allowed for the restoration of the place of worship while preserving its heritage and aesthetic qualities.
