PROJECT
Castlemaine is a city in the state of Victoria, Australia, located 120 km north of Melbourne. As in most Australian cities, summer temperatures in Castlemaine can exceed 45°C. In the coming years, the technical challenge for construction in Australia will be to use products and building techniques that provide thermal comfort during the hottest months.
For this project, the goal was to create a home based on bio-architecture principles and the use of high-performance natural materials, ensuring optimal thermal comfort and air quality both in winter and in summer.
Implementation
The 44 m³ of hempcrete were prepared using a horizontal-axis mixer. Once mixed, the hempcrete was poured between the wooden formwork.
Thanks to PROMPT natural cement, formwork removal can be completed in less than 6 hours, improving the overall construction schedule.
Key Information
The project lasted 6 months and was delivered in January 2024.
