History

The Louis XI Castle is a communal castle dating back to the 13th century and has belonged to the municipality of La Côte Saint-André since the 15th century.

It features several elements classified as historical monuments. It's a former medieval castle from the 15th century that was transformed into a leisure castle for a religious congregation.

The castle's interior courtyard has been transformed into an auditorium and hosts the Berlioz Festival every year, attracting numerous spectators.

PROJECT

Since the construction of the structure, the facades have undergone very few restoration and treatment phases. A restoration phase was thus urgent to preserve and secure the castle.

Application

Before the complete restoration of the facades, an experimental phase was carried out with the reconstruction of the missing balcony.

Prior to implementation, the substrate had to be prepared by cleaning, dusting, and humidifying the areas to be repaired. Stainless steel or brass dowels were then placed where significant mortar repairs were required.

Regarding the implementation itself, the repair of the molded elements and 19th-century PROMPT natural cement moldings was carried out identically using a PROMPT natural cement mortar. The sandstone (molasses) also had to be repaired.
