A Bit of History
The hotel was designed by Edouard Niemans at the request of Henri Negresco. For nearly 100 years, the hotel has proudly stood on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. A legendary emblem of luxury hospitality, it stands out with its classic style. Its facades, roof, and the glass roof of the royal lounge are classified as historical monuments.
Project
In order to preserve its architecture, it was necessary to carry out restoration work on the pediment of the main façade of the hotel. Due to the Mediterranean climate of Nice, the sea spray and corrosion of the reinforcements have significantly damaged all of the decorations and moldings.
Restoration steps
The casting of the moldings was carried out using a micro-concrete made of PROMPT natural cement, which was placed in silicone molds.
Then, the chipped areas were repaired using a mortar made of natural cement PROMPT. Preparation of the substrate was necessary to then install stainless steel dowels and wires to ensure anchoring and adhesion of the repair mortar.
