A bit of history
In the heart of the village of Rochegude (Drôme), the public fountain and its hexagonal stone basin stand as a symbol of elegance and tradition. Classified as a historic monument since 1926, it reflects the skill of past builders and the essential role of water in everyday life.
Built in its current form in 1863 and complemented by a basin in 1896, the fountain combines simplicity with harmonious proportions. Through its discreet yet majestic presence, it continues to be a gathering place, offering freshness and a sense of memory for both residents and visitors.
PROJET
The washhouse and the fountain had waterproofing issues and had not been holding water for several months.
Implementation
The exterior faces of the washhouse were restored with NHL2 lime plaster, allowing the masonry to breathe, while the interior surfaces were repaired and waterproofed using PROMPT natural cement.
A Sustainable Solution
PROMPT natural cement perfectly meets the requirements for restoring historic structures thanks to its numerous properties. Its light ochre color allows a wide palette of shades and develops a remarkable patina over time. Its impermeability and compatibility with existing substrates make it an ideal material for waterproofing basins. PROMPT natural cement offers a durable, aesthetic, and heritage-friendly solution, as demonstrated by this restoration.
Complete Restoration
Following the restoration, the fountain and washhouse were successfully refilled, enhancing this historic heritage while restoring their original function. This return to service contributes concretely to the living environment of Rochegude residents and highlights the importance of preserving public structures over time..
